Artificial Brilliance

This piece is a  transformation of a familiar nighttime horizon into a meditation on illumination and atmosphere. Constructed from thousands of small, meticulously arranged squares, the image dissolves into abstraction at close range yet resolves into a glowing band of distant light when viewed from afar. The composition is dominated by a dark, expansive sky rendered in deep browns and muted purples, creating a heavy, enveloping backdrop.

Across the center, a horizontal strip of pale yellows, whites, and soft golds radiates outward, suggesting a distant city or industrial corridor casting light into the surrounding darkness. The glow appears diffused, spreading unevenly into the sky above and the earth below, echoing the way artificial light permeates the night landscape.

Thin, raised lines arc across the surface like faint atmospheric currents or electrical traces, disrupting the strict grid of the mosaic. This tension between the ordered geometry of the squares and the organic surface gestures evokes the complex relationship between human construction and the natural environment it subtly alters.
