Architectures of Memory (Gotham)

A towering urban skyline that feels both monumental and distant, as though seen through the haze of recollection. Constructed from hundreds of carefully arranged square fragments, the composition dissolves into abstraction at close range, yet resolves into recognizable architectural forms from afar. Tall vertical structures dominate the scene, their pale facades rising against cooler blue-gray towers that recede into atmospheric depth.

The composition is anchored by a darker band in the foreground that suggests water or shadow, creating a reflective boundary between viewer and city. The buildings themselves appear slightly softened, their edges blurred by subtle tonal shifts, reinforcing the sense that this place exists somewhere between observation and memory.

Across the surface, delicate raised lines weave irregularly through the mosaic grid, introducing an organic counterpoint to the strict geometry of the squares. This tension between order and gesture evokes the layered experience of urban life—where solid structures endure while perception, atmosphere, and memory continually reshape how the city is seen and remembered.
